The first time you open MySecureVault, you'll create a master password. This password is what protects your entire vault — choose something strong and memorable, since it is never stored anywhere and cannot be recovered if forgotten.
After you unlock with your master password once, you can turn on Face ID / Touch ID / fingerprint unlock in Security Centre. From then on, you'll only need your master password again if biometrics fail or you turn the setting off.
MySecureVault is a zero-knowledge app: your master password is never sent to us or stored anywhere, so there is no way for us — or anyone — to recover or reset it. On the unlock screen, tap "Forgot your master password?" and choose "Erase and start over." This permanently deletes the vault stored on that device so you can set a new master password. If you had cloud sync turned on, your synced data remains on the server (still encrypted under the old password) and will become accessible again once you sign back in and enter the password that originally encrypted it.
Tap the add button on the Dashboard or Passwords tab, then fill in the title, username, password, and any notes, category, folder, or tags you'd like. Tap "Add Item" to save it to your encrypted vault.
Open Password Generator from the Dashboard's Quick Access section, or from the password field when adding an item. Adjust the length and character types, then tap "Use this password" to fill it in automatically.
Create an account (email/password, Google, or Apple) and enable sync in Settings. Your items are encrypted on your device before they're ever uploaded, so the sync happens without your master password or vault contents ever being readable by us.
Use the Export option in Settings to create an encrypted backup file, which you can save or share anywhere you choose. Use Import/Restore with the same master password to bring it back onto any device.
Android: go to Settings → Passwords & accounts (or Autofill service) on your device, and choose MySecureVault as your autofill provider.
iOS: go to Settings → Passwords → Password Options (or Settings → General → AutoFill & Passwords), and turn on MySecureVault.
Yes. Your vault is encrypted on your device, and unlocking it requires your master password or biometrics. MySecureVault also detects signs of a compromised device (jailbreak/root/tampering) and blocks access if one is found.
Use "Erase and start over" on the unlock screen (see above) to wipe the vault on that device. If you have a cloud account and want your synced data and account removed as well, email cjrutledge@gmail.com and we'll delete it for you.
