What Can I Cook? (“the app”) is operated by Christopher Rutledge. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

Data We Collect

The app collects the following data to provide its core functionality:

• Email address — used to create and authenticate your account via a one-time passcode (OTP). No password is stored.
• Photos you submit for scanning — uploaded to secure cloud storage to enable ingredient detection. Photos are processed by OpenAI and are not stored permanently after processing.
• Detected ingredients and generated recipes — saved to your account so you can access them later.
• Scan usage count — tracked to enforce the free tier limit (5 scans per month).
• Subscription status — managed by RevenueCat to determine whether you have an active Premium subscription.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide the features of What Can I Cook?. Specifically:

• Your email is used for login only — we do not send marketing emails.
• Photos are sent to OpenAI’s API for ingredient detection and are not retained by us after the scan is complete.
• Scan history and recipes are stored securely and are only accessible to your account.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes.

Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Supabase — authentication and data storage (supabase.com/privacy)
• OpenAI — ingredient detection and recipe generation (openai.com/policies/privacy-policy)
• RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management (revenuecat.com/privacy)

Data Retention

Your account data (email, scan history, recipes, favourites) is retained for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email below.

Children’s Privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
